Does a mural on a wall painted with acrylics need some kind of clear coat?

I am painting a mural on my daughter's wall with acrylic paints. Should I put some kind of clear protectant on it to keep it from being scraped off?Does a mural on a wall painted with acrylics need some kind of clear coat?
i always ';shallac'; every piece of work i do.


shallac it pretty much just a clear coat that comes in a spray can, its affordable and you can get it at any art store, it doesn't ruin the painting at all, it just makes it a little shiny

The problem with shellac it can yellow the colors





I use a water based polyurethane with UV protection in a matte finish-- ( Sikkens) so no shine

No, but you will need to prime it if you ever decide to paint over it.
